2003 04-02 Woo hoo – we’re on our way to Orlando for vacation. The day started with a scheduled physical for Garry at 8:15. While he was getting poked & prodded, Arlona finished the packing, boarded Sam and loaded up the van. Garry got home and off to the repair shop for some overdue work on Miranda’s trumpet. Finally, off to Capital City Airport for the flight at 11:50am. We made our flight and after a lovely airport lunch in Detroit, we were winging to Orlando. We picked up our rental Ford Explorer from Budget and for Kissimmee. Our abode for the week was a rental home offered through Endless Summer Vacation Homes and rented via CondoSavers.com. This is where our lesson begins. Never, and I mean never, trust the directions given by these people. They must assume that you have lived in the area all your live, based on the directions they provide. “Go toward this road.” Well, if I knew where this road was, I wouldn’t need directions, would I? Anyway, they were also useless on the phone. Luckily, by sheer dumb luck, we found the rental office and pick up the keys and direction to our three bedroom, two bathroom home with a private pool.
The home was nice, fairly clean for a rental property and the features were as offered. We had a master suite with a queen-size bed, walk-in closet and full bathroom.
Miranda’s room had a double bed and Alex’s had two twin beds. The kids also had their own bathroom.
There was a living room, small dining area, and full kitchen with all the appliances. The garage surprisingly held a full-size washer & dryer. The backyard was dominated by the screen enclosure over the in-ground pool, which was somewhat chilly.
We hit Chevy’s for dinner. Chevy’s reminded us of Rio Bravo, a “Fresh Mex” restaurant near home. Checking their respective Web sites, it appears that they are indeed one in the same. After dinner, we went to the local Publix for breakfast groceries, drinks and other necessities. Once we got back to the house, we settled in and hit the hay. |
