On September 4, 2000, we took a day trip to the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. Here is the approach to Meigs:
They have the world's largest, most complete T. rex dubbed Sue:
Her head is too heavy for the skeleton to support so the above head is a plaster cast. The actual head is in a glass case on the floor just above the Sue exhibit.
The Family and Sue:
They have a variety of exhibits and are walking distance from Meigs. Museum Campus Chicago is a lakefront park connecting the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, the Field Museum and the John G. Shedd Aquarium. They have an extensive exhibit of Star Wars memorabilia including actual production models and costumes from the movies.
