| During days 6, they finally got the pump, filter, heater and chlorinator hooked up. It was finally working on day 7. Consumers should be here on day 8 to run the gas line for the heater. We have a Pentair 250,000 BTU heater. It should raise the temperature at least 10 degrees per day. We opted for a sand filter. We were going to install a D-E filter until we heard about Zeobrite, a new filter material for sand filters. It is supposed to be available in 2002. We will replace our sand with the Zeobrite. The chlorinator is sitting on top of the post. I loaded an entire bucket of chlorine tablets into it. It will introduce chlorine automatically into the pool. Just beyond the chlorinator, you can see the return inlet. That houses our underwater light. We also have a really cool fountain attachment for it. Photos to follow. I built the ladder tonight too. It was easy to assemble and seems quite stable. Best of all, it converts to a deck ladder. That will work well when we build the deck next year. The solar cover also came in today. That should help greatly with the heat loss. Alex & I got in for the first time tonight. The water was about 73 degrees - quite brisk. The bottom also felt surprisingly soft. We'll see what the pool guys say tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow, they will install the solar cover reel. Taking the cover off and putting it back on by hand once tonight was enough. We're talking about nearly 900 square feet of floating plastic! |
